Interview Audrey Carlan

Interview originale d’Audrey Carlan à l’occasion de la sortie de International Guy :

1- You come back with a brand new series: International Guy. You had already filled our previous year with your Calendar Girl and here we go again for a series that will keep us company for many months. How do you find inspiration to write at such a pace?

Audrey: Actually, it was all the travel I did for Calendar Girl that had me writing like a mad woman. Seeing France, Brazil, Denmark, New York, and more left me with so many ideas I had to get them down. I wanted to share what I’ve seen of the world with my readers, many which will never get the chance to travel the world like I have. This series gives them that chance in a fun and romantic way.

2-  is a series where the main character is Parker Ellis, a seductive agency boss. How was it different for you to have a male main character? During the writing, did you try to identify with him?

Audrey: It was a challenge to write primarily in the male point of view. I had to dig deep as well as research certain things by asking my husband questions like, “What would you do in this scenario. How would you describe how this feels to you.” Things like that. I identify with Parker because his voice is so vivid in my mind. He’s quite the character.

3- International Guy is coming out at the same time in several languages while Calendar Girl was first released in the US in English, how do you feel on the eve of an release of such magnitude?

Audrey: I can’t lie…I’m freaking out! I’m so nervous about what people are going to think about my guys. They are not manwhores…well, one of them is but I don’t go into detail into his sexcapades. However, I’m also excited about the fact that so many readers across the world get to meet the Dream Maker, Love Maker, and Money Maker at the same time. It’s really special and such an honor to have my story shared across the globe.

4- The 3 handsome men of the International Guy agency go from city to city across the globe to help their clients. This adventure begins in Paris in the first volume. We feel that you have a true love for this city, can you tell us a little more about it?

Audrey: Anyone who’s gotten to know me, knows I have a special affection for France, and Paris in particular. I believe it’s the most beautiful city in the entire world. The people are kind, the sights are breathtaking, and around every corner there’s something beautiful to see, a scrumptious place to eat, and in my experience, the French people love Americans. I always feel welcome. I love the city so much I’ve taken my husband, my soul sister, and my assistant to experience it. There’s nothing like Paris in all the world and I wish everyone could experience it at least once in their life. Me, I’ll continue to go back often. It’s become a second home to me.

5- The New Romance festival is taking place in Paris this year from 19 to 21 October in the Cité de la mode et du design , will you attend this great event?

Audrey: I wouldn’t miss it. I actually had to cancel another signing I was supposed to attend in Las Vegas because I love this event. The Hugo & Cie team along with their incredible partners Kobo, Fnac, Cosmopolitan, Voici, and Cherie will create an event people will be talking about all year. It’s truly so much fun and I love meeting all the fans, dancing to the music, sharing real champagne and spreading the love of romance and books. It’s my favorite event of the year. I’m blessed to be invited.
